Raymond E. Stem, Sr.
Raymond E. Stem, Sr., 77 who formerly lived at the Harlen House, Easton, died Saturday at Gracedale, Nazareth R.D. 1, where he had been a resident the last seven years.
Mr. Stem was a route salesman for Schaible's Bakery for 23 years, retiring in 1958. Prior to that he was employed by Victor-Balata Belting Co., Wilson, and had been a self-employed painter and paperhanger.
Born May 210, 1905, in Easton, he was a son of the late Leander and Gertrude Grube Stem. He lived in Wilson at one time.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Wilson; a life member and a founder of the Avona Fire Co., and a member of the Easton Aerie 111, Fraternal Order of Eagles.
His wife the former Katherine Wolfe, died July 29.
Surviving are three sons, Raymond E. Jr., Bethlehem; Richard P., Phillipsburg, and Robert L., Avona Heights; a daughter, Gertrude Harrison, Riegelsville, N.J.; four sisters, Bertha Holdsworth, Palmer Township, and Mabel Hummel, Hazel Sargent and Ethel Golden, all of Wilson; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Rupell Funeral Home, Phillipsburg. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial Shrine, Palmer Township. |
