Mrs. Edgar Metler
Mrs. Lydia V. Metler, 81, died today in Easton Hospital where she was
admitted Wednesday. Formerly of 38 S. 9th St., Easton, where she lived
with her son, John W. Metler, she was a guest at Gracedale, Nazareth
R.D. 1, since July.
During World War II, she was employed by the American Can Co., Dixie
Cup Division, Wilson. Later she was a nurses aid in Easton Hospital
until 1950.
Born in Easton on Sept 9, 1986, she was a daughter of the late Charles
N. and Anna Moser Conine.
She was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, and the Ladies
Auxiliary of Rice-Ebner Post No. 588, American Legion, Both of Easton.
Her husband, Edgar A. Metler Sr., died in 1941.
Surviving in addition to her son are two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Riley,
Easton, and Mrs. Clara Wilson, Palmer Township; a stepdaughter, Mrs.
John Meissner, Lebanon, N.J.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Daughter Anna Elizabeth died in 1932 and two sons, Edgar A. Jr. was
killed in Action in the Korean Conflict in 1951 and Roy E. died in
1952.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday in the Strunk Funeral Home,
Easton. Interment will be in Hays Cemetery, Easton.
