Alvin E. Clause, 84,
Was Retried LVRR Conductor
Alvin E. Clause, 84, of 352 Philadelphia Rd., a retired railroad conductor,
died at 9:40 p.m. yesterday at his home. He had been ill for some time.
Mr. Clause was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad for 55 years.
He retired in 1942. From 1943 to 1947, he was a bartender at Ott's
Grill, South Side.
Mr. Clause was born Jan 23, 1873, in Wagnersville, Northampton County,
a son of the late Thomas and Lenora Moser Clause. His wife the former
Bertha Horn, died in August 1950.
He attended Second Methodist Church. He was a charter and life member
of the McKinley Club, Easton, and a member of the Order of Railroad
Conductors: Camp 429, POS of A: Easton Lodge No. 45, Loyal Order of
Moose, and the Liberty Hose Fire Co.
Surviving are two sons, Edwin H., Easton, and Alvin W., Bethlehem;
three daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Tigar and Mrs. Helen Betts, both of
Easton, and Mrs. Mary Pursell, Phillipsburg; one sister, Mrs. James
Phifer, Allentown; a brother, Floyd W. also of Allentown; 15 grandchildren
and 16 great-grandchildren. A son, William H., a former Easton School
director and city councilman, died in 1943. Another son, Robert, well-know
Easton Athlete, died May 6, 1957.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m Tuesday from the Shillinger Funeral
Home, Easton. |
