Mrs. Elizabeth Phifer, 89, of 44 S. 13th St., Allentown, died yesterday in Allentown hospital.

Mrs. Phifer was the widow of James S. Phifer, former superintendent of the Allentown Works of the American Steel & Wire Co. for 37 years. He died in 1937.

Mrs. Phifer was born in Williams Township, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lenora Moser Clause. She resided in Allentown since 1895.

Surviving are two sons, a daughter, a brother, 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Burkholder Funeral Home, Allentown.
