Mrs. Pfeffer, 92, Charter member of Legion Aids
Mrs. Missouri S. pfeffer, 92, of 4098 Freemansburg Ave., Bethlehem Township, died yesterday afternoon at her home. She had been ill for about a week.
Mrs. Pfeffer was the widow of John N. Pfeffer, who died in 1944.
Born in Ackermanville, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Susan Ackerman Young. Mrs. Pfeffer had resided at the Freemansburg avenue address since 1910. Before that she made her home on the South Side.
Mrs. Pfeffer was a charter member of the auxiliary of Lester W. Pfeffer Post, American Legion, Wilson, which was named in Honor of her son. He died in 1918, four days after he had been wounded while serving with the 316th Infantry, 79th Division, U.S. Army in France.
Mrs. Pfeffer was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Farmersville.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Grace n. Kline, Bethlehem Township, and Mrs. Reba Brightbill, Wilson; three sons, Casper, Bethlehem township; Paul, at home and William C., Nazareth R. D.3; three sisters, Mrs. Avada Geissler, Easton; Mrs. Minnie Geissinger, Allentown, and Mrs. Rhumy Painter, Philadelphia; a step-sister. Mrs. Verna Menger, Yonkers, N.Y.; a stepbrother, earl Young, Dallas, Tex., 25 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her son, Lester W., four other children died before her. They are John A. Pfeffer, former owner of the Ridgway & Pfeffer automobile agency, Phillipsburg, who died March 25, 1950, Frank W. Pfeffer, who died July 6, 1954 and two children who died in infancy. |
