John A. Pfeffer Operated Auto Agency 22 Years
John A. Pfeffer, 58, a veteran of World War I. who for the last 22 years operated an automobile agency died on Saturday at 5 p.m. at his home on Freemansburg road, Easton R.d.3, He had been ill for two days.

At the time of his death, Mr. Pfeffer was head of the Ridgway & Pfeffer Chevrolet car agency in Phillipsburg. Muriel Ridgway a former partner in the firm, died about a year ago.

A native of Easton, Mr. Pfeffer had served overseas during World War I with the 311th Machine Gun Battalion of the 79th Division. Before he opened his automobile agency, he was employed by the old F. S. Bixler wholesale dry goods firm in Easton.

Active in various service and veterans organizations, Mr. Pfeffer was a charger member and past president of the Phillipsburg Rotary Club, and a member of Lester W. Pfeffer Post 611, American Legion which was named in honor of his brother. He also was secretary-treasurer of the 311 Machine Gun Battalion Association, a member of the Order of Fleas, and the First Evangelical Congregational Church.

Mr. Pfeffer was born Aug. 28, 1891, a son of Mrs. Missouri Young Pfeffer, of Easton R.D.3 and the late John N. Pfeffer. In his youth he played baseball for the old German Hill club on South Side. He also was active in local bowling circles.

Surviving are his mother; his wife, Edith Seibert Pfeffer; three sons, John A. Jr. and Lester E., of Phillipsburg, and Kenneth ,at home, and a daughter, *****, of Easton; five grandchildren; four brothers, Frank E. Casper, and Paul of Easton, and William of Forks Township, and two sisters, Mrs. Martin Kline and Mrs. Harvey Brightbill, of Easton.
