Dr. Eugene M. Wilhelm
Dr. Eugene M. Wilhelm, the well known pow-wow practitioner,
died at 10 o'clock Friday night of an overdose of Laudanum.
Dr. Wilhelm had been suffering from Sleeplessness and overwork
for some time. He took the drug on Friday Morning about 9 o'clock
to secure sleep, and by accident, it is believed to be certain,
took an overdose. He lay down to rest and it was not untill
well into the afternoon that the family became alarmed. Mrs.
Wilhelm tried to awaken her husband and could not rouse him.
She caused Dr. J.S. Hunt, of Easton, to be summoned. When
Dr. Hunt reached the Wilhelm home, the patient was unconscious.
His breating was at intervals of three minutes. From that time
he lapsed deeper and deeper into coma until the end came at
10 o'clock.
Dr. Eugene Wilhelm was the son of the famous, Dr. John Wilhelm,
the deceased was fifty years of age. He was member of the Masonic
Lodge at Riegelsville and prominently connected wit the Lutheran
church at Raubsville. He was also a member of the Knight of
Friendship lodge of Raubsville. He is survived by this widow
and a family of eleven children. One son is being educated
for medicine at Medico-Chirurgical college. A survivng sister
is Mrs. Farrington, wife of the house phyusican of the Astor
House, New York.
The surviving children are Arthur, a student at Philadelphia;
Chester, Howard and Eugene, Jr., and Misses May, Maud, Mabel,
Bessie, Suzanne, and Margaret Wilehlm. One brother, Perry Wilhelm,
of Brooklyn and three sisters, also survive him: Mrs. W. H.
Farrington, Mrs. H.H. Bachman, both of Brooklyn, and Mrs. M.
A. Brittingham, of Easton. |
