Troxell Jr., Fred S.
Fred S. Troxell Jr., 86, of Phillipsburg, NJ, passed away Sunday, February 17, 2008 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Wilkes Barre, Pa. Born: On November 29, 1921 in Easton, Pa, he was a son of the late Fred S. and Minnie Campbell Troxell.
Personal: His wife, the former Florence A. Kozakevicz, passed away in 2000. Fred graduated from Wilson High School, Class of 1939. He was an Army veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theatre. He received the Purple Heart Medal for wounds he received in Germany. He also received the Silver Star Medal. A resident of Phillipsburg for nearly all of his life, Fred had worked in the Cameron Division of the Ingersol-Rand Co., Phillipsburg.
Memberships: Fred was a member of and at one time had been active in the John Dolak American Legion Post #446, Alpha, NJ. He was a member of the Easton Fleas.
Survivors: He is survived by his adopted family, Richard, Marion, Alicia and Richie Zaro of Phillipsburg, NJ; brothers, George Troxell of Saylorsburg, Pa, Earl Troxell of Easton, Pa and Floyd Troxell of Harleysville, Pa, and sisters, Jean Beam of Bath, Pa, Janet Stone of Easton, Pa, Bessie Steed of Wilmington, Del., Minnie Dutter of Easton, Pa and Gladys Sparrow of Birdsboro, Pa.
A daughter, Donna L. Troxell, passed away in 1985. Four brothers, Arlington, Raymond, Thomas and Charles Troxell, and two sisters, Blanche Strunk and Margaret Andrews, all died earlier.
Services: Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Rupell Funeral Home LLC, 465 Memorial Parkway, Phillipsburg, NJ. A calling hour will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service in the funeral home.
Memorials: May be made to the American Cancer Society, Lehigh Valley Unit, 3893 Adler Place, Bethlehem, PA 18017 in memory of his daughter, Donna L. Troxell.
