Elwood S. Kelchner, On Farm Bureau Staff
Elwood Samuel Kelchner, 76, Eston R.D. 2, near Nazareth, died at 3;40
a.m. today at his home.
Mr. Kelchner was employed at the Northampton Farm Bureau Cooperative
Association, Tatamy, for 25 years. Before that he was a farmer.
Born in Williams Township, on Dec 17, 1881, he was a son of the late
Milton and Lizzie Hartzell Kelchner. He resided in Butztown until 30
years ago when he moved to Forks township. He resided on the Stocker
Bros.. dairy farm for 15 years and later on Mine Lane road. He resided
at his present address for the last eight years.
He was a member of St. John's United church of Christ, Farmersville.
Surviving are his widow, the former Sadie Zellner; three sons, Claude,
Nazareth R.D. 3: Roy, Butztown, and Raymond, Wilden Acres; five daughters,
Blanche, wife of Oliver Woodring, Easton R.D. 2; Florence, wife of
William Rohn, Bethlehem R.D. 1; Esther, wife of Russell Kresge, Nazareth,
Dorothy, wife of Harlan Young, Easton R.D. 2, and Ella wife of Kenneth
Reagle, Nescopeck; two Brothers, Floyd, Bethlehem, and Sterling, Easton
R. D. 2; two sisters, Mrs. Flora Transue, Easton, and Emma, wife of
Howard Edelman, Nazareth; 25 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A grandson, Harold Rohn, was killed in a farm accident at the age of
17.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Katinis funeral Chapel,
Wilson.
