Edward J. Kiefer
Edward J. Kiefer died of pneumonia at 7:10 last evening at his home, 1325 Northampton Street, after a brief illness. He was in the 68th year of his age. The deceased was twice married. He is survived by his second wife and by the following children by his first wife: William N. Kiefer, Elmer J. Kiefer, Harry E. Kiefer, Mrs. Thomas Fishler, Mrs. William Bright, Mrs. Harry Bassett and Mrs. Howard Walter, all of this city, and Edward Kiefer and Israel J. Kiefer, of Raubsville. He is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Rev. William Kiefer and Mrs. Smith, wife of Rev. John Smith, of near Jersey City, N.J.; Shively Kiefer, of Raubsville, and Mrs. Annie Deemer, of Fremont, O.
Mr. Kiefer was a native of Raubsville, but for about 40 year was a resident of Easton. During the Civil war he served as a sergeant in Company K, of the One Hundred and Fifty-third Regiment, Pennsylvania, Volunteers. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock.
The deceased's wife is seriously ill with pneumonia and is not likely to recover. |
