Notes: Jacob "Mandes" served
in the Civil War. His brother James and he where in the U.S.
General Hospital, Fredricks, Maryland. Mandes died a year and
a half after serving in Civil War from an illness he contacted
while in the War. His condition deteriorated until death. He
as discharged on a Surgeon Certificated of Disability at Frederick
Md, Feb 5, 1863. His wife Sabina remained his widow until her
death about 1873. They left no issue.
Jacob Amandus stocker was a private and served under Captain
David Ecker's Company F of the 129th Pennsylvania Regiment.
He enrolled on August 4, 1962 and served nine months. At the
time of enlisted Jacob was a farmer. He was admitted in the
hospital on November 4, 1962, and was discharged because of
Chronic Diarrhea of three months standing contracted at Sharpsburg,
Md. He is greatly emaciated with no prospect of immediate recovery.
His mother filed for his pension, but since Mandes was married
the claim was rejected. |
