Railroad Employee, Hit by Engine, dies
George M. Stocker, 52 years old, of 820 Jackson street, Allentown,
an employee of the Philadelphia & reading Railroad, died
yesterday morning at the Allentown Hospital form injuries received
Thursday evening when he walked into the path of a shifting
engine in the East Penn Junction yards.
Mr. Stocker, a car inspector, walked from behind a freight
car into the path of the shifter. One of his legs was severed
several inches below the knee and the other was badly mangled.
Mr. stocker was in the employ of the Philadelphia & Reading
Company for 25 years. He reported for work at 10 o'clock on
Thursday night.
He was born in Easton, a son of the late Herman and Sarah
Stocker. His widow, Mrs. Tessie A. Stocker survives with the
following brothers and sisters: Harry A., Charles H,, Oliver,
Mrs. Irene Gross, Mrs. Irvin Walters, Mrs. Talford Nagle and
Mrs. Edwin Sicher, all of Allentown. |
