John J. Steckel
John J. Steckel, 78, of 800 Reynolds Street, died at 2 o'clock
yesterday afternoon following an illness of several weeks.
Mr. Steckel was a native of Raubsville, a son of the late George
and Lucinda Steckel, and lived in Easton practically all his
life, following farming as an occupation but for the last two
years he was employed by the Canister Co. in Phillipsburg.
Mr. Steckel is survived by a son Howard E. Steckel of Brown's
Terrace; a daughter, Mrs. Earl Kies, of 800 Reynolds Street;
five sisters; Mrs. Ella Woodring, Mrs. Alice Raub, Mrs. Mary
Hineline, Mrs. Clara Benner, and Mrs. Stella Illick and a brother,
Wilson Steckel, all of Easton; also four grandchildren; Mrs.
Walter Matchette, of Brownwood, Tex; Miss Mae Steckel of Easton
RD 2 and Betty and Jack Kies, of 800 Reynolds Street and a
great grandson Richard Matchette of Brownwood, Tex.
A brother Irwin D. Steckle of 137 West Berwick Street, died
Wednesday of this week.
Mr. Steckel was a member of St. John's Evangelical Reformed
Church of Williams Township, and Judson Kilpatrick Camp No
