Notes:

Howard E. Steckel, 95, of 2600 Stephens St., Palmer Township, died Sunday in Northampton Convalescent Center, Easton. He was the husband of the late Marguerite (Miller) Steckel.

Steckel was a clerk for the former Barnet and Walters Hardware Store, Phillipsburg, before retiring in 1958.

Born in Easton, he was a son of the late John J. and Flora (Schultz) Steckel.

He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Easton.

Survivors: Daughter, Sara Matchette, with whom he resided; sister, Sarah Kies of Easton; a grandson and two great-grandsons. He was predeceased by a son, Howard E. Jr.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, Ashton Funeral Home, 14th and Northampton streets, Easton.
