Emma S. Urban
Former Telephone Night Supervisor Dies, Aged 39
Emma Steckel Urban of Bethlehem R. 3, former night supervisor
of operators in the Allentown Exchange of the Bell Telephone
Co., died Thursday at the Allentown State hospital, aged 39
years, five months and 13 days. Death was caused by a nervous
breakdown.
Mrs. Urban was born in Hanover township, a daughter of Frantz
and Lillie(Knerr) Steckel. Until five years ago when she was
forced to retire because of ailing health, she had been employed
more than 10 years by the Telephone Co.
She was a member of the Twelfth St. Baptist church.
Besides her parents there survive three brothers and three
sisters, Edward M. Steckel fo Wescosville R. 1, William G.,
at home, Robert T. of Allentown, Mrs. Asher Abel, Mrs. Harry
Parks and Jennie B. Steckel, at home.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Rabenold
funeral home, 116 S. 8th St. Interment will be made in Cedarville
union cemetery. The Rev. Titus Hottel will officiate.
