Samuel W. Sherry
Sanuel W. sherry, a retired Lehigh Valley Railroad trainman
died last evening at 11L30 at his home, 538 Centre Street,
Bethlehem, of a complication of ailments.
He was born at Hackelbernie, Carbon County, on June 12, 1860,
a son of the late George and Susanna Wilhelm Sherry and his
age was 80 years, one month and 17 days.
For 48 years he was employed by the Lehigh Valley Railroad
and he had the honor of being the baggage master on the first
trip of the Black Diamond Express. He was a member of the Lehigh
Valley Railroad Veteran's Association; Bethelem Lodge, Free
and Accepted Mason; Bethlehem Aerie, No. 284, Fraternal Order
ofEagles; the Keyston Republican Club, of Bethlehem, and Grace
Lutheran Church, Bethlehem.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Rosa Anewalt Sherry and
by four sons, Roy and Wesley, of Allentown and Paul and Kenneth
of Bethelhem; also by four grandchidren.
Thelate George B. Sherry, owner and general manger of the
Eston Brass & Machine Company, this city, was a brother
of the deceased.
The funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m.l at the Styer Funeral
Home, 70 East Broad Street, Bethlehem. Interment in Nisky Hill
cemetery, The Rev. Dr. P. A. Laury will officate. |
