Charles E. Garis
Charles E. Garis, 79, died Sunday morning at his home, 10 Raymond
Street, Phillipsburg. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Georgia
Everitt Garis; two sons, Clarence E. Garis, a former postmaster
of Phillipsburg; William Garis, Catskill, N.Y.; a daughter,
Mrs. Maude McMullen, Phillipsburg; three grandsons, five granddaughters
and a brother and a sister, Dr. Frank Garis and Mrs. Tillie
Bower, both of Philadelphia.
Mr. Garis was born in Easton, son of the long deceased Samuel
and Mrs. Susan Garis, but spent the greater part of his life
in Phillipsburg. His father was amoung the first furniture
dealers in Easton.
For 31 years Mr. Garis served as secretary of Star Council,
Royal Arcanum Easton. He was also a member of Manitoba Council,
Improved Order of Red Men, and St. John's Lutheran Church,
