Raymond Fox, 66, Ex-Burgess, War Vet, Found Dead
The body of Raymond Fox, 66, who had been missing from his
home in Wilson since Tuesday at 2.P.m., was found early today
in his car parked on Jefferson Street in the Borough near the
Lester Pfeffer American Legion Post home. There was a bullet
wound in the abdomen.
The body was discovered by Sgt. John King and Office George
Wright, of the Wilson Police, while they were making a routine
patrol. A .32-calibre revolver was found near the body.
The coroner said that two notes were found on the body. Mr.
Fox was reported to have been despondent over his health. He
lived with his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer
Williams, at 123 S. 15th Street.
Born in Williams Township on Nov 19, 1890, he was a son of
the late Forrest and Annie Unangst Fox. He lived at the 15th
street address since November 1955. Prior to that he resided
in West Easton, where he served a term as chief burgess.
Mr. Fox was a veteran of World War I and received many citations
among them the Croix de guerre. Mr. Fox fought in the Chateau
Thierry and the Meuse-Argonne campaigns.
He was a machinist for the Pennsylvania Pump and Compressor
Co, until his retirement several years ago.
He was of the Evangelical and Reformed Faith.
Mr. Fox was a member of the Lehicton Lodge, Odd Fellows Easton
