Charles W. Eichman
Charles W. Eichman, of this city, died today shortly before one o'clock,
at his late residence, No. 527 Northampton Street, after a long illness
of progressive paralysis, aged fifty-nine years. The deceased had been
failing in health for about a year past, the muscles of the throat having
first become attacked with the paralysis. He was a member of the First
Pennsylvania Volunteers the Thirty-eighth militia and the Forty seventh
Pennsylvania Volunteers during the war, and served assecond lieutenant
in the latter regiment. He was also a member of the fire department in
the volunteer days and for a time was president of the Washington Fire
Company. He deceased was at one time a member of Pomp's old band and
Lafayette Post, G.A. R. He is survived by seven children - John of Philadelphia;
William, Charles, Caroline H, Kathleen and Mary Eichman and Mrs. Marry
Hess of this city. One brother, Wiliam Eichman, of Easton, and two sisters,
Helen of Easton, and Mrs. Samuel Garis, of Bethlehem, also survive. |
