William Eichman
William Eichman, a well-known resident of this city, died at his home,
corner of Tenth and Butler Streets, yesterday afternoon of paralysis.
For a number of years he was an invalid. He suffered a stroke on riday
afternoon last just as he was about to leave the supper table and also
had another stroke on sunday afternoon.
The decesased was a son of the late William Eichman, of this city,
and was in his sixty-eighth year. He was a printer by trade and was
associated with the late William L. Davis in establishing the Express
in 1855 and remained a member of the firm of Davis and Eichman until
1862.
At one thime he was one of the propretors of the Weekly Argus, and
was a aprtner of the late James R. Shunk when they purchased it
from the late Colonel William H. Hutter. Subsequently he was for
a number of years on the staff of the Daily Argus.
Some years ago he moved to Philadelphia but returned to this city
about five months ago. He is survived by a widow and one son, William
H. Eichman, of Minneapolis. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. Samuel
Garis, of Bethlehem, and Helen Eichman, residing at home. The funeral
will take place on Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
