Mrs. Lee Bowers, Was Leader in N.J. Pocohontas
Mrs. Mary Y. Bowers, 93, Beacon Street, Stewartsville, died
Saturday in Warren Hosptial where she was a patient since April
30.
Born in Wiliams on November 25, 1895, she was a duaghter of
the late William D. and Anna Mushlitz Young.
She livedin stewartsville since August 1978, previously living
at 252 Heckman St., Phillipsburg, for 57 years.
Her husband, Lee Bowers, died in 1978.
She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Church, Morgans
Hill, Williams Township; a charter member of the Winona Council
No. 127, Degree of Pocahontas, and she was its financial secretary
from its institution in 1934 until 1978; past Great Pocahontas
of the state of New Jersey and member of the Pocahontas League
and a member of the Pride of Malaska Council 100, Sons and
Daughters of Liberty.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dorothy Rush, New Smyrna
Beach, Fla.; and Mrs. Edith Cole, with whom she resided; two
brothers, Earl Young and Wilbert Young, both of Easton R.D.
4; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Kriel, Easton, and Mrs. Minerva
Wilson, Delaware Park, Lopatcong Township; four grandchildren
and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Ruipell
Funeral Home, Philipsburg. Interment will be in St. John's
Cemtery, Williams Township. |
