James E. Stocker, Custodian at Wilson High 19 years
James Edward Stocker, 86, of 2031 1/2 Ealer Ave., Wilson, died
Wednesday in his home.
He was a custodian at Wilson High School for 19 years, retiring
in 1964. He then served as a crossing guard for more than nine
years at Fairview School, Wilson, last working in 1975.
Born in Easton, on Feb. 14, 1894, he was a son of the late
Monroe and Mary Brotzman Stocker.
Mr. Stocker was a member of St. Mark's United Church of Christ,
Easton; the Pennsylvania Retired Public School Employees Association
and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a life
member of Liberty Hose Fire Co. No. 2; Pioneer Athletic Association
and Order of the Fleas, all of Easton. He was active in area
quoit leagues many years ago.
Surviving are his wife, the former Katherine L. Herring; two
daughters, Mrs. Alice May Stirling, Simsbury, Conn., and Mrs.
Maryanne Heller, Phillipsburg; a son, James Jr. of Ischua,
N.Y.; nice grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in the Strunk
Funeral Home, Easton. Interment will be in Northampton Memorial
Shrine. |
