H.S. K. Stocker, of Phillipsburg
A gloom was cast over Phillipsburg this (Thursday) Morning when the announcement
was made that Herbert S. K. Stocker, one of the best known and most popular
young men in the town, had died at about four o’clock at the residence
of his parents on the corner of Second and Ross Streets. About two weeks ago
Mr. Stocker returned from the Jefferson Medical College to spend his vacation.
A week later he was taken with rheumatism, but his illness was not believed
to be serious. A few days later he began to improve. On Wednesday he was out
of bed, but had a relapse and was obliged to return to bed. His nurse, who
spent the night with him, a nurse watched him carefully. Four o’clock
came and Mr. Stocker was thought to be quietly sleeping. Instead of his being
in a natural seep it was the sleep that know no waking. He had quietly passed
away. What a terrible shock to his parents and the rest of the family! Mr.
Stocker was a so of Mr. and Mrs. Azariah Stocker and was about twenty-five
years of age. He daughter school at Firthtown for four or five, and was elected
principal of Phillipsburg high school, but refused to accept the position on
account of being then about to enter Jefferson medical college. He was insured
for $2,000 in the Ancient Order of United Workmen and was a member of Teedyuseung
tribe. I. O.R. M, the Haymaker’s association,
and of Montana lodge, No. 23, K. of P. His death will be sincerely mourned
by hundreds of friends and acquaintances. |
