John D. Sandt Found Dead in his room
John D. Sandt, 56, of 400 High Street, was found dead at his home early this morning by his wife. Deputy Coroner Dr. Theodore Reichbaum issued a certificate of death by hanging. He had not been in good health for some time.
Mr. Sandt was born in Easton and was a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Sandt. He attended the Easton public schools and later entered the employ of J.P. Correll at the off of the Sunday Call, and became a linotype operator.
In 1921, Mr. Sandt started the College Print Shop in a building adjoining his residence and had been quite successful in business.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Hattie May Ott Sandt and four children: Lloyd O. Sandt, Allentown; Donald Sandt, New York City, Miss Margaret I. Arndt, Mamaroneck, N.Y. Mrs. Gladys S. Heisler, wife of Hobart D. Heisler, Easton. He also leaves two sisters, Mrs. Evelyn Bethman of Easton, and Mrs. Edward Ries of Phillipsburg and a brother, Ernest Sandt of New York city.
Mr. Sandt was a member of the First Reformed Church; Easton Lodge No. 152 F. and A. M., Easton Chapter, No. 173, Royal Arch Masons; the McKinley Club, Easton Kiwanis club; Amana Lodge, No. 77, Knights of Pythias and Easton Typographical Union
