Stewart Piatt Dead in France
One More Local Boy Added to Liberty's Roll of Honor
Mr. and Mrs. William F. Piatt, of 418 Maple Avenue, Green's
Bridge, on Sunday received a telegram from the War Department
announcing that their son, Stewart W. Piatt, had been killed
in action in France on July 15th. Piatt was 24 years old and
enlisted on October 3, of last year. Exactly two months later
he arrived in France, and it had been known to his realtives
and friends for some time past that he wsas inthe sector in
which heavy fighting was going on. At the time of his death
the young patriot was a ember of Company B, Sixth Engineers,
the complement of the young Americans that had been in the
thick of the fighting,and which has lost many men.
The young man was well-known here and in Easton where, before
he enlisted was employed at Henthorn's.
Besides his parents, he is survived by four brother and two
sisters, William, Howard, Albert and Lester and Miss Emma and
Mary Piatt. he was a member of St. James' Lutheran (Straw)
Shurch, and the P.O.S. ofA.
