Mrs. George S Beam, leader in Phillipsburg Church Activities, 73
Mrs. Lenora Nixon Beam, 73 of 194 Summit Ave., Phillipsburg, died at
10:05 P.M. yesterday in Warren Hospital, where she was admitted 20
minutes earlier.
Mrs. Beam was the wife of George S Beam, Born in Franklin Township,
Warren county, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Martha Strunk
Nixon.
Mrs. Beam was a member of Wesley Methodist Church and was active in
Church societies. She was president of the Helping Hand Society for
many years and was a member of the WSCS and Fellowship and Missionary
Circle of the church.
Mrs. Beam was honored earlier last night at a Mother-Daughter tea
held at the church, for having the largest number of grandchildren.
Mr. and Mrs. Beam celebrated their 53 wedding anniversary last October.
She resided in Phillipsburg the last 20 years. Before that she lived
in the Green Pond Area and Broadway, N.J.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, John F, Easton;
three daughters, Mrs. Ethel Campbell, palmer Township; Mrs. Mildred
Baltz, Nazareth and Mrs. Ruth Cressman, at home; a brother, Robert
Nixon, Greenwood Lake, N.J.; 25 Grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
A daughter, Mrs. Mable Campbell, died in 1953.
The funeral will be held at 2 P.M. Saturday at the Ford & Rupell
Funeral Home, Phillipsburg.
