Charles T. Garis, 68, of 538 Center St., Easton, one-time employee
of the former Easton Gas Works. Died Saturday at 11:15 p.m.
in Easton Hospital.
Mr. Garis had been in failing health for nearly two years.
He was admitted to the hospital on Friday night.
He worked for the gas company here about 29 years. Before
he retired three years ago, he was employed by M. S. Reilly,
dealers in paper mill supplies in Easton.
Born in Easton on May 4 1885, he was a son of the late Gilbert
and Hannah Doll Garis. As a boy, he moved with his parents
to White Haven, where he resided about 20 years. He then lived
for several years in Sayre, retiring to Easton in 1914.
Mr. Garis was a member of First Methodist church and the Fleas
Club, both of Easton. His wife, the former Minnie L. Prutsman,
died in July, 1945.
Surviving are four children, Floyd G. Garis, with whom he
resided, and Mrs. Earl Strock, Raymond C. and Russell E. Garis
all of Easton; a sister, Mrs. Louis Zellner, of Easton, and
four grandchildren. Another daughter, Mrs. Edith Handelong,
died in November, 1943. |
