Sudden Death
Michael Frankenfield, residing near Stockertown, died suddenly at the
home of his relatives in West Bethlehem on Wednesday evening of last
week. The Times says that about ten days ago the deceased came to West
Bethlehem on a visit. On May 1 he walked to Lower Saucon and returned
the same day. This was a great strain on his system, he being in the
eighty-fourth year of his age. The next day he complained of illness,
and being still greatly fatigued, took to his bed. A physician was
summoned and medicine administered. On Wednesday morning he arose and,
remarking that he felt better, he ventured out. Later in the day he
laid down for a few hours. At four o'clock in the afteroon he went
out into the yard. Becoming alarmed at his prolonged stay, a grandchild
was sent out in search of him, who found him in convulsions. He was
immediately carried into the house and a physician summoned. About
five o'clock, with his friends and relatives about him, he quietly
passed away. Thursday morning his remains were conveyed to his late
home in Stockertown. The deceased leaves a widow, aged eighty-one years,
seven children and a number of grandchildren to mourn his departure.
