Russell Benner, Dixie Cup retiree
Russell Benner, 90, of Phillipsburg, died Wednesday, Oct 2,
in the Care Center of Phillipsburg.
He was a machine press operator of Dixie Cup in Wilson Borough,
retiring in 1970.
Born Sept 10, 1906, in Williams Township, he was a son of
the late Howard and Clara Steckel Benner.
He was a member of Broadway Methodist church. He served on
the administrative board and was the treasurer of the church
for the past 15 years.
An Army veteran, he served during World War II in the European
Theatre.
He was a member of Franklin Township Seniors and the AARP.
He was a 1924 graduate of Easton High School.
He is survived by his wife, the former Ada E. Grey; two brothers,
Ralph of Lyons, NJ and Robert of Palmer Township; and three
sisters, Sadie Trimmer of Oxford, Florence Luke of Philipsburg,
and Esther Wolbach of Williams Township.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in DeVoe Funeral
Service Inc., 136 W. Washington Ave., Washington, Call 9:30
a.m. time of services Saturday in the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Williams Township.
