Edward B. Zeller, Bangor Native, Was Mechanical Engineer
Edward B. Zeller, 53, a mechantcal engineer for the Western
Electric Co, died yesterday in Alllentown Hospital.
Mr. Zeller was employed by Western Electric Co. for the
last 10 years. He held serveral important patents, one for
a roller punch and die for shaping sub-assembly parts to
exact size, which he developed while working for Western
Electric.
Born in Bangor, he was a son of the late Clayton A. and
Augusta Harris Zeller. He lived at Elm House, Tremont Apartments,
Allentown for the last seven years.
He was graduated from Easton High School and attended Lafayette
College. He was factory manager for American Armament Co.,
Allentown, in World War II. After the war, he went to the
Ronson Corp., then in East Stroudsburg, as chief engineer.
Prior to joining Western Electric, he was chief enginner
for the Reading Hardware Corp.
He was member of the American Society of Tool Engineers,
Engineers Club of the Lehigh Valley, Council of Western Electric
Technical Employees and the Fearless and Keystone fire companies.
Surviving are his widow, Ruth E. Rhoads Zeller; his stepmother,
Mary H. Zeller; two sons, and a daughter, two brothers,
James W. and Kenneth P., both of Allentown; a stepbrother,
Harry Rice and a stepsister, Genevieve Alder, both of Allentown,
and two grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are being made by the Trexler Funeral
Home, 1625 Highland St., Allentown
