George W. Wilhelm, 74, of 120 North Thirteenth Street, Easton,
died Friday night in the Easton Hospital. He was admitted
to the hospital on July 28, for surgical treatment.
Mr. Wilhelm was born on the South Side, Easton and was a
son of the late Emanuel and Mary Paul Wilhelm. For a number
of years he was employed at the Lehigh Valley shops, South
Side, where his father was boss painter.
After leaving the shops, he engaged in the painting business
and later became a salesman for the Thomas Confectionery
Company. Ten years ago he entered the employ of J. A. Lum
and Son, wholesale confectioners, Easton, South Side.
Mr. Wilhelm was a member of St. Mark's Reformed Church,
Easton, was the oldest living past master of Easton Lodge
No 152, F. and A. M; was a member of Easton Chapter No 173,
Royal Arch Masons; Pomp Council No 20, Royal and Select Master
Masons; Lehigh Consistory, Scottish Rite Masonry, Allentown
and Lehighton Lodge, No 244, I. O. O. F. of Easton.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Amanda Moser Wilhelm; three
sons, E. Robert Wilhelm, at home; G. Russell Wilhelm, 16
Front Street, Phillipsburg; Paul H. Wilhelm, 1851 Ferry,
Wilson; one daughter, Mrs. Mae Martenis, wife of Frank P.
Martenis, Bethlehem, and three step-sons, Arthur K. Richards
and Norton L. Richards, all of Chicago.
