Charles Weaver, Former Easton Merchant, Dies
Long-Time Rotarian Would Have Been 86 Oct. 10.
Charles K. Weaver, former hardware merchant in Easton, died
last night in a hospital in Coral Gables, Fla. He had been
hospitalized five weeks. He would have been 86 years old Oct.
10.
For years, he operated a hardware store at 414 Northampton
Street before retiring to Coral Gables about 25 years ago.
He and his father, the late W. Stewart Weaver, operated the
Easton store for many years.
Mr. Weaver served a long time as superintendent of the Sunday
School of the First Reformed Church. He also was an active
member of the congregation.
He was a world traveler and an honorary fellow of the Rotary
foundation.
He was a life member of the Pennylvania Sons, of Revolutions,
a member of the Coral Gables Country Club and the Robertson
Memorial Church. He had not missed a Rotary meeting for more
than 20 years.
Mr. Weaver was active in the Northampton County Historical
Society. He had a farm at Harmony, N.J. and specialized in
raising fruit.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Pearl Ccoster Weaver, a stepdaughter,
Mrs. Mary Alice Winters, a sister, Miss Helen Weaver, 311 S.
6th St., Easton, and a niece and nephew. His brother, Frank
Weaver, died in July 1958 at Lansdale. |
