Walter Reed Stofflet, interior decorator
Walter Reed Stofflet, 74, formerly of South New Street, Nazareth, died Saturday, May 1, in Manor Care II, Bethlehem, where he resided since April 1993.
He was self-employed interior decorator for 45 years before retiring.
Born Aug. 22, 1924, in Nazareth, he was a son of the late Walter E. and Mable Shepard Stofflet.
He graduated from Nazareth Area High School in 1943 and Columbia University in1951. He also attended Fountain Bleu School of art in France.
He was a member of St. John’s United church of Christ in Nazareth.
He was a World War II Veteran of the U. S. Army Medic Corps. He also served in the Pacific Theatre and received the Bronze Star.
He was a noted Nazareth historian for many years.
He is survived by two brothers, Elwood E. of Moorestown and Gordon U. S. of Gouldsboro., Pa. a sister, Shirley Wilbur Leh of Nazareth; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral service, but call 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday I the Schmidt Mortuary, Nazareth.
Burial will be private. |
