LeRoy Steckl, 53, Craftsman for Casket Co.
LeRoy (Roy) Steckel, 53, of 423 Iron St., died at his home
Saturday night after an illness of about four months.
Mr. Steckel had worked for more than 30 years for the Ashton
Casket Co. and its successor, the Easton Casket Co. In length
of service he was the oldest employee of the firm. He had been
a wood finisher and later a hardware and metal finisher.
Born in Easton May 30, 1905, he was a son of the late John
and Sara Seifert Steckel.
A banjo player, Mr. Steckel had performed with a family group
known as the Hearts of Harmony Trio and with the old Lehigh
Valley String Band. He was a member of the Easton Fleas Club.
Mr. Steckel was of the Lutheran faith.
Surviving are his widow, the former Pearl M. Hicks; a son,
LeRoy W., Wyandotte, Mich.; two sisters, Mary, wife of John
Brunner, Wilson, and Mrs. Ruth Garmen, Plainfield, NJ and two
granddaughters.
The funeral will be held at 2 P.m. Wednesday at the Strunk
Funeral Home. |
