Ruth N. Heater, 96, of 121 Main St., Freemansburg, died Wednesday
in Blough Nursing Home, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Austin
A. "Chappy" Heater.
A graduate of the former East Stroudsburg Normal School, she was a
teacher for 45 years, starting in the Lutz-Franklin one-room schoolhouse,
Lower Saucon Township, and retiring from Lower Saucon Elementary School
in 1969.
Born in Lower Saucon Township, she was a daughter of the late Alexander
Hamilton and Bertha (Hineline) Shimer.
She was a council and choir member, and Sunday school superintendent
for 35 years of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Freemansburg.
Survivors: Daughters, Dorothy Derr Heiselmeyer of Bethlehem and *****
of Sarasota, Fla.; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
