Clayton V. Shimer
Clayton V. Shimer, 88, of 157 Ann St., died this morning at the Eastwood Convalescent Home where he was a guest three weeks. He was ill since Sept. 7.
Born in Martins Creek, Dec. 30, 1876, he was a son of the late William and Martha Vanatta Shimer.
Mrs. Shimer was a farmer in the Martins Creek area in his earlier years. He later was employed for 39 years as a ticket clerk for the Pennsylvania Railroad. He retired in 1942.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Third Lutheran Church, Palmer Township, and was a former deacon and councilman of the church. He was a member of the Mohican Tribe 1, Order of Redmen, Philadelphia; Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen, and the Golden Age Club.
Survivors include three daughters, Hilda, wife of Charles Butler, Beverly, N.J.; Hazel, wife of Stanley E. A. Lum, at home; and Mrs. Evelyn Bertrand, Phillipsburg; a son, Carl W., Saugus, Mass.; 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will beheld at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Strunk Funeral Home, Easton. |
