Martin L. Raub, 77, Dies At His Home
Descendant of Founder of Raubsville
Martin L. Raub, son of the late Mary Ann Dimmick and Samuel
Raub, died at his home in Raubsville this morning after an
illness of several years, being seriously ill for the last
two weeks. Mr. Raub was born in Raubsville September 18, 1859.
His entire life was spent in the community. He was a descendant
of Andrew Raub for whom the village was named.
Mr. Raub followed the occupation of a farmer until ten years
ago when he retired. He always took an active part in the politics
othe community, having been Democratic Committeeman in his
district up until the time of his failing health. He served
two terms as a member of the Williams Township School Board.
He was a member of the board of directors of the Raubsville
Cemetery Association.
Mr. Raub was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Raubsville
and served as elder of the chruch for many years. He was a
member of Postperity Lodge, No. 567, F & A. M. Riegelsville,
Pa.
Mr. Raub is survived by his widow, Bertha Steele Raub, and
by two daughers, Mrs. Russell Kiefer, of Raubville and Mrs.
S.G. Beck, of Nazaerth. A daughter, Margaret Raub Streepy,
of Easton died last October. He is also survived by seven
grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Sallie Hoffman, of Raubsville.
The late Francis D. Raub, who for many years was superintendent
of the schools of Allentown, was a brother of the deceased.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church
on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Interment in the Raubsville
Cemetery. |
