ROBERT OSTERSTOCK, 67, NORCO LEGION BASEBALL HALL OF FAMER
Robert "Big O" Osterstock, 67, of 26 E. Walnut St.,
Nazareth, died Wednesday in Muhlenberg Hospital Center. He
was the husband of Lorraine (Jones) Osterstock for 47 years
in September.
He worked 42 years, first as a laborer for the Dixie Cup Co.
and the American Can Co., Wilson, and then in the sampling
department of James River Corp., Forks Township, before retiring
in 1989.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late Lloyd E. and Eleanor
M. (Morris) Osterstock.
An organizer of the Northampton County American Legion Baseball
League, he was associated with the league for 43 years, and
was one of the first inductees into the league's hall of fame
in 1986. He also was inducted into the Pennsylvania Sports
Hall of Fame.
He was a past commander and post adjutant for 30 years of
American Legion Post 415, Nazareth. He also was a past commander
of the American Legion, Northampton County Division, and a
chairman of the board of directors of the Jacksonian Democratic
Club, Nazareth.
He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Nazareth.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors: Wife; sons, daughters, and five grandchildren.
Military services: 1 p.m. Saturday in the church. Call 7-8:30
p.m. Friday and noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, both in the church.
