"Beany" McKee, 75, was Professional Baseball catcher
Joseph Henry (Beany) McKee, 75, onetime professional baseball
player, died Saturday afternoon at this home, 528 West Wilkes-Barre
Street. He had been ill for several months.
Mr. McKee, a catcher, played professional baseball with York,
and played with the Easton team in the old Lehigh Valley League.
He also was a member of South Easton Teams, including the Lehigh
Valley Shops nine. In the Lehigh Valley League he was the battery-mate
of Jack McPherson a prominent pitcher.
Mr. McKee was born in Easton, a son of the late Richard and
Mary Sloan McKee. He retired several months ago as an inspector
in the blacksmith shop at Ingersoll-Rand Co. He was an Episcopalian
and was a member of the Pioneer A.A., Citizens Hose Company,
Order of Fleas, and Fraternal order of Eagles.
He is survived by his wife the former Viola Gorgas and a brother,
David, of Methuen, Mass. |
