Charles Lear, 82, Formerly of Easton, Dies in Allentown
Charles Lear, 82, former local resident, and father of Floyd R. Lear, of Easton, died yesterday afternoon at his home, 1353 Liberty street, Allentown, after an illness of four weeks.
He was born in Forks Township, Jan 20, 1865, a son of the late Jacob and Catherine Sandt Lear. He moved to Allentown 61 years ago. For many years he was employed by the Douglas Steel and Wire Co. and its successor, the American Steel and Wire Co., and more recently served as property custodian of the Allentown Boys Club.
He was a member of the Independent Order of Redmen, of Philadelphia and Allen Council, Junior Order United American Mechanics, of Allentown.
Mr. Lear is survived by his wife, the former Cora E. Weaver; two sons, Floyd R. of Easton, and Oscar L., of Allentown; a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Fetser, of Allentown; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. His first wife Mrs. Susannah E. Stofflet, of Forks Township, died in1909.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Burkholder funeral home, Allentown. |
