Lawrence H. Laubach
Bloomsbury, N.J. - Lawrence H. Laubach, 65, of 44 Willow St., was dead on arrival at Harrington Memorial Hospital in Southbridge, Mass., on Wednesday, Nov. 4, after being stricken while visiting Sturbridge Village in Massachusetts.
He was employed for 29 years by Jersey Central Power & Light Co. as a meter reader, working from Washington, N.J.; He last worked in the company’s maintenance department in Phillipsburg before retiring in 1990.
Born Feb 25 1927, in Phillipsburg, he was a so of the late Osmun and hazel Howell Laubach. He lived in Bloomsbury for the past 33 years.
He was a member of Calvary Community Church in Harmony Township, where he served on the board of trustees, was a former deacon, Sunday school superintendent and Boy’s Brigade treasurer.
He was also a member of the board of directors of French Creek Bible Conference.
He was a former cub Scout master in Harmony Township and a member of the 25-year Club of Jersey Central Power & Light Co.
He graduated from Phillipsburg High School in 1949.
He served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II.
He and his wife, the former Mary C. Compton, observed their 33rd wedding anniversary in June.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, *****of Phillipsburg; a daughter, *****of Easton; three brothers, Kenneth M. of Stewartsville, ***** of Phillipsburg and ***** of Harmony Township; three sisters, Eva Barber of Asbury, ****** of Wilson Borough, Pa., and ***** of Harmony Township; and a grandson.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Calvary Community Church on Belvidere Road in Harmony Township. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Harmony. Call from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday in the Rupell Funeral home at 465 memorial Parkway in Phillipsburg. |
