Isaac Laubach Passes Away
One of South Side's Oldest Residents Was Civil War Veteran
Isaac S. Laubach, one of the oldest residents of this city, died at 11 o'clock last night at his home, 1013 Berwick street, South Side, of the infirmities of old age. He had been ill with kidney trouble for the past four weeks, Mr. Laubach was 95 years old on December 17 last but despite his advanced age he was able to be about each day until his recent illness. He was a native of Finesville, N.J. and had resided in this city for the past five years.

Mr. Laubach was well known in his younger days as a mason contractor and had charge of the mason work in the construction of the paper mills at Hughesville, Riegelsville and Warren Glen. He also had charge of the construction of the concrete abutments for the Riegelsville bridge. For more that 63 years he was employed by the Riegels of Riegelsville for whom he constructed many other buildings. He always prided himself upon the fact that in all the years he was in employ of the Riegels he never had a job condemned on him, no matter how large or how small and many of the jobs he had charge of were considered big jobs in these days. He was also well known as a Civil War veteran having enlisted in Company F., First New Jersey Regiment, U.S. Infantry, on September 3, 1862, and was discharged as a corporal on June 24, 1963. He was affiliated with Baldwin Post, No. 6, G.A. R. of Elmira, N.Y.

Mr. Laubach is survived by his second wife, the following children; Howard, of Omaha, Neb. Mrs. Levina Jones, of Roburn Mass.; Mrs. William Crouse and Mrs. Elmira Weiger, of Warren glen, N.J.; Isaac F., and John Laubach, of Finesville, Wesley and Charles Laubach, of Wilson borough, and Mrs. Lizzie Fenard, of Milford N.J. a sister Mrs. Catharine Wetzel, of Tatamy; eight step grandchildren, 17 grandchildren.
