Ends Her Life By Inhaling Gas
The many friends of Mrs. Anna M. Mahn, wife of Paul Mahn, will
be shocked to learn of her sad death yesterday afternoon by
inhailing illuminatiing gas in her home No. 1428 Butler street.
She had been suffereing from insomnia for a number of weeks
and it was thought that she was improving.
Mrs. Mahn was born in Easton and was a daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Valentine Krantz. She was 62 years of age and
was a faithful member of Zion Lutheran Church.
Her husband survives with the following children: Mrs. Charles
F. Class, Miss Noami Mahn, Miss Louise Mahn and Clarence Mahn,
of Philadelphia, and Fred Mahn, of San Francisco, Cal. She
also leaves three brothers, Garibaldi, Grant and and Calvin
Krantz, all of Easton. Her pure, devotional and self-sacrificing
character will perpetuate her memory with all those who intimately
knew of her home and church activities.
Mrs. Mahn left the following note addressed to her family,
which read as follows:
Easton, Pa., Arpil 26, 1923,
My Dear Folks,
I am sorry for this act that I am about to do. I hope you
will all forgive me but you can see I can't sleep but a few
hours at night and you know I can't live that way so good
bye to you all
Your Mother
I feel sorry for Fred, say good bye for me, If I could only
stop thinkng when I go to bed. My mind is too active.. Oh,
how I would like to live but I can't live without sleep. |
