Local Resident Died in Action in Marianas
M/SGT. Donald G. Hutchison, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Hutchison,
25 Lewis Street, Phillipsburg was killed in action according
to a telegram addressed to his wife as follows:
"The Secretary of War has aked me to express his deep
regret that your husband M/Sgt. Donald G hutchison was killed
in action June 7th. Confirming letter follows"
The telegram was signed by J. A. Ulio, Adjutant General.
Sgt. Hutchinson enlisted Feb. 31, 1941, goin to Maxwell
field Montgomery, Ala. After being shipped to several camps
he entered the B20 school at Fairmount Air Base, Geneva,
Neb., and was serving somewhere in the Marianas at the time
of his death.
He was married to the former Faith Elizabeth Fletcher, Of
Omega Ga. Where she now resided with her parents.
Donald, 24 years old, graduated from Phillipsburg, High
School with the class of 1939 and, and was assistant Scout
Master of Troup V61. He was a member of the Wesley Methodist
Church.
Besides his wife and parents he is survived by three brothers
and a sister; Sgt. Frank P., in active duty with the infantry
in the Philippines; Mrs. Thelma Parvin, Riverton, N.J and
Elmer and James at home. |
