World War Veteran Dies In Hospital
Norman Ezra Houck, 36, son of Mrs. Lillie M .and the late
Ezra Houck of 517 Burke street, College Hill, died at 2;30
this morning in the new U. S. Navel Hospital, Philadelphia
of heart trouble. During the World War, he served as a seaman
on the U.S. battleship Illinois and from illness contracted
during the war. Heart trouble developed. He was for eight
months a patient in the U. S. Navel Hospital, Norfolk, Va.,
after the conclusion of the war. He returned to his home
in this city and on February 16 his condition grew worse.
On Monday last he was removed to the hospital.
Mr. Houck was born in this city and attended Easton schools.
He was a ember of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, College
Hill, and Brown & Lynch Post. No. 9, American Legion.
The deceased was unmarried and is survived by his mother
and by three brothers, Harold, Clad and Orville Houck , of
this city and two sisters, Mrs. Beulah Schaffer, wife of
Henry Schaffer, of the South Side and Miss Arietta Houck,
living at home
