Irene S. Mengel, 76, of Sullivan Trail, Easton, died Thursday
in her home after a long illness. She was the wife of Frank
E. Mengel for 54 years in November.
She was a sewing machine operator for most of her life, having
retired in 1981 from the former Tatamy Sportswear Co. after
20 years service. Previously, she worked at the former Pioneer
Sportswear, East Lawn.
Born in Williams Township, she was a daughter of the late
Raymond Hoover and Sadie (Jones) Hoover Chessman.
She was a member of Forks Salem United Church of Christ, Forks
Township, and a Brownie leader there for many years.
Survivors: Husband; son, daughter,
brother
George of New Bern, N.C.; sister, Emily, wife of Walter Clemens
of Forks Township; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services: 11 a.m. Monday in the church. Call 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday,
Schmidt Mortuary, 407 Belvidere St., Nazareth. |
