Allan S. Hoffman, 86, Ex-Easton contractor
Allan S. Hoffman, 86, who retried in 1962 as the owner of the
Asa T. Smith & Co., an Easton building contractor firm,
died last night in Easton Hospital.
He lived at 217 Paxinosa Road East, Forks Township, and had
been ill hree weeks.
For many years he was president and a trustee of the Lehigh
Valley Contractors Association.
He was a past president and associated for 50 years with the
Riegelsville Building and Loan Association, now the First Federal
Savings and Loan Association, Perkasie.
A founder of the Nebo Hunitng Association, Pike County, he
served as it president for 50 years.
A 50-year Mason, he was a life member of Easton Royal Arch
Chapter 173 and member of Prosperity Lodge 567 F&AM, Riegelsvile
and Hugh de Payens Commanderey 19, Knights Templars, Easton.
Mr Hoffman was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Raubsville
having served on the church council for 40 years.
He was a former member fo the board of the Raubsville Cemetery.
A veteran of World War I, he served in the U. S. Army Air
Corps and was attached to the French Air force. He was a life
member of Lt. E. C. Baker Post 1290, VFW, Easton.
Born in Raubsvile, he was the son of the late Jacob and Sallie
Raub Hoffman.
Surviving are his widow, the former Sara Smith; a daughter,
Mrs. Robert A. Reich, Atlanta, Ga.; a brother J. William of
Coopersburg;; three sisters, Mrs. Arthur A. Butz and Mrs. Mary
McGrogan, both of Allentown, and Mrs. Vince P. Bilder, Raubsville,
and two grandsons.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Clements Funeral
Home. Interment will be in Easton Cemtery. |
