Gallagher Sr., Richard E.
Richard E. Gallagher Sr., 80, of Easton, Pa, formerly of
Williams Township, Pa, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2005
in Easton Hospital. Born: On December 11, 1924 in Phillipsburg,
NJ, he was a son of the late Francis and Dora Fox Gallagher.
Personal: His wife of 43 years, the former Shirley Vandergrift,
passed away in 1992. He was retired from Cooper Industries,
Palmer Township, where he worked as a maintenance mechanic.
He then served 12 years as a part-time zoning officer for
Williams Township. Richard served in the Army during World
War II in the European Theatre. Memberships: He was a member
of the Bangor Elks Lodge #121, the George Hendershot Junior
Order United American Mechanics, was a life member of the
Order of the Fleas Club, Easton. He was also a member of
the West Easton Safety First Volunteer Fire Co., and the
West Easton Athletic Association. Richard was a member
of the Young Republican Club of Easton, the Wilson Democratic
Association, Post #950 American Legion, Riegelsville, the
AARP Palmer Branch, the Senior Circle, Easton, and he delivered
Meals on Wheels in the Easton area. Survivors: He is survived
by a son, Richard E. Gallagher Jr. and his wife, Peggy
of Williams Township; a daughter, Elaine S. Richards of
Easton; two grandchildren, Stacey and Dana Gallagher; his
companion for 13 years, Doreen Free, with whom he resided;
and his extended family, Michael and Carol Free, and family.
A sister, Helen Gallagher Nagy, died earlier. Services:
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the
Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, 327 Easton Road, Riegelsville,
Pa. Friends may call on Friday after 10 a.m. in the funeral
home. Interment will be in Raubsville Cemetery. Memorials:

212 E. Broad Street, Bethlehem, PA 18016.
