John H. Frankenfield
John H. Frankenfield,90, of Allentown R 2, died Thursday in the Allentown and Sacred Heart Hospital Center.
He was the husband of the late Octavia S. (Link) Frankenfield.
He was a maintenance supervisor for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. He received recognition for 21 years of service without missing a day of work.
In 1951 He was assistant secretary to the president pro tem of the state Senate, appointed by then freshman Sen. Tilghman A. Freed.
Frankenfield was a jeweler in Allentown and Emmaus for many years until accepting his other positions.
One of the founders of the Allentown city baseball league, Frankenfield played professional baseball for the Emmaus Athletic Association baseball league in the 1930’s and 1930’s.
In 1972 he was named to the Allentown District Bowling Association’s Hall of Fame.
Born in Bellevue, Ky., he was a son, of the late Harvey D. and Martha Jane (Hoffman) Frankenfield.
He served in the Army Signal Corps during World War I.
Surviving are a son, C. D. Frankenfield of Allentown, R.2; a brother George Frankenfield of Allentown, and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Reinsmith Funeral Home 225, Elm St., Emmaus. There will be no calling hours. |
