Joseph J. Dagon, 70, of 136 E. St. Joseph St., Easton, died Saturday
in Easton Hospital after being stricken at home. Northampton County
Coroner Joseph Reichel attributed death to natural causes.
Dagon was the husband of Mrs. Dagon. They observed their
47th wedding anniversary last May.
He was employed by Ingersoll-Rand Co., Phillipsburg, for 39 years
before retiring in 1982. He was also the dog agent for the Easton and
Wilson police departments for 16 years before retiring in 1983.
In addition, Dagon was a school crossing guard for the past three
years and, during the 1960s and '70s, he was a part-time, self- employed
roofer.
Born in Easton, he was a son of the late French and Edith (Bachman)
Dagon. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Easton.
Dagon served with the National Guard in Easton, 1940-41, and then
in the Army during World War II.
He was president of the Easton Midget Association in the 1950s and
was sports director of the Easton Veterans of Foreign Wars Teener Baseball
League in the 1960s.
Survivors: Wife; sons, daughter, sisters, Edith Schaffer and Hazel
Frankenfield, both of Easton, and ***** of Valparaiso, Ind.,
and eight grandchildren.
Mass: 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church; Christian Burial Service 10 a.m.
Wednesday in the church. Arrangements, Strunk Funeral Home, Easton. |
